從台灣大聯盟、中華職棒到日職開幕戰：專訪昔日鯨將馬來寶

今日的球迷們，你們還記得馬來寶嗎？在兩聯盟惡鬥時代，許多球員紛紛從中華職棒被挖角至台灣大聯盟，但馬來寶反而卻從台灣大聯盟跳槽至中華職棒，這一跳，不僅拿下了1999年的職棒防禦率王，甚至還讓他投到了日本去，成為王柏融在火腿隊的老老老前輩。

認識馬來寶已經有一段時間了，如今已經48歲的他，在兩年前我和他初次聯絡時，他仍然在棒球場上奮鬥著，還一度詢問我有沒有機會回到台灣來打球。

很高興馬來寶願意接受我的訪問，在去年訪談過他之後，因為各種元素，我一直沒有時間將這篇文章寫出來，到了今天才著手動筆。

那麼，我們就來看看這位昔日鯨將如何回味他在台灣的點點滴滴吧！

Q1：距離你在台灣的時間，已經過了很久，不知道你對台灣最深刻的印象是什麼呢？

Q1: It's a long time since you left Taiwan, what is the impression of Taiwan in your memory?

A1：我非常享受在台灣的日子，環遊這座島，並且到處比賽，暢遊整個台灣。我們甚至在1997年，到了東海岸去打季後賽。我很想念台灣，也希望在武漢肺炎之後，能夠再次拜訪台灣。所有的台灣球迷都讓我感到驚艷。

A1: I really enjoyed Taiwan. Traveling around the island to play games. Seeing all of the country. We even traveled to the east coast side of the island for the playoffs in 1997. I miss Taiwan and hope to visit back there after all the Covid situation is over. All the Taiwan baseball fans are amazing.

Q2：很感謝你對我國的熱愛。如你所提到的，你參與了1997年的季後賽，當時你待的聯盟是台灣大聯盟。你知道當時兩聯盟的關係很惡劣嗎？
Q2: Thank you for your passion to our country. And as you mentioned, you played playoffs in 1997, that time you were in TML league. Do you know that the relationship between TML and CPBL was bad at that time?

A2：是的，這件事情我是了解的，但這並不影響我全心投入台灣大聯盟。在1999年，我轉投中華職棒聯盟，並持續對整個台灣的球迷感到感激。我將我的全部奉獻給與了兩個聯盟。

A2: Yes.  I did know that their relationship was bad.  But it didn’t influence me and all I gave to the TML.  In 1999 I went to the CPBL and I still appreciated all the baseball fans in Taiwan. I gave my all to the TML and the CPBL. 

Q3：聽起來你很享受在這裡的生活。是什麼讓你願意來到如此一個陌生的國家打球？又是什麼讓你從台灣大聯盟轉投中華職棒的呢？

Q3: It sounds you enjoyed playing here. What is the reason you came to an unfamiliar country to play, and why you went to CPBL from TML?

A3：當時的我待在洋基小聯盟體系，而我傷到了我的手肘，並進行了手肘手術。我在獨立聯盟打拼了一年，試圖讓自己恢復健康。當時，出現了一個來台灣大聯盟打球的機會，而我同意了。我的目標是以台灣為跳板，投出好成績，轉投到日本職棒去。

我從台灣大聯盟跳槽到中華職棒的原因是，我的朋友Kevin Henthorne（郝有力）當時在為和信鯨效力，而他問我要不要去當他的隊友，我答應了。

A3: I was in the minor leagues with the NY Yankees organization and while there I hurt my elbow and had an elbow surgery.  I played a year in Independent ball to get healthy.  Then in the US an opportunity to try out for the TML happened.  So I tried out. And they said come to Taiwan to play.  So my goal was to play in Taiwan and go from Taiwan to Japans NPB.
